Pilates is a low impact exercise that is suitable for all ages, fitness and mobility levels. Sessions can be tailored to all circumstances and intensities; making it ideal for those enduring pregnancy or recovering from injury. Frequently attendees are hesitant due to believing that classes are too strenuous and they will further contribute to their discomfort - this could not be further from the truth when it comes to Pilates. The phrase “use it or lose it” holds true; without working to strengthen your body and improve mobility, you are likely to make your injury far worse. 

 

Pilates can be used to tone and strengthen muscles, improve mobility, flexibility, balance, coordination and awareness, rehabilitate injury and improve overall mental and physical wellbeing. What is Pilates?


Pilates focuses on a number of principles such as flow, centering, precision, control and concentration and it uses fewer and more precise movements to achieve these principles. As a pilates class has the preliminary focus of creating balance and alignment through controlled movement they are often encouraged following injury.
