As we all know, the government have issued a series of measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Although these measures are important to save lives, they may interfere with your daily life activities, one of these being exercise. Many of you may be feeling confused or defeated, as you can no longer go to the gym or attend an exercise class. Don't worry though, there are so many ways that you can exercise in your home!
It is most likely that you already have all the resources you need to complete a successful workout at home. Towels and tins of soup are both great props you can use to aid your exercise. A beneficial way to use these props is during Pilates, as you can develop your level of control whilst using them. Here are some examples of how you can use everyday household items during your Pilates workout.
In this Pilates workout, you will need a small hand towel. This will challenge your strength and mobility. The towel is a great feedback tool for your nervous system, which will challenge your proprioception.
Using two tins from your cupboard, your shoulder stability, mobility and strength will be challenged.
By performing a small amount of Pilates exercises using everyday common household items, you can still challenge your muscles and joints to keep strong and mobile during lockdown. It's also important to find other forms of exercise, such as going for a walk or run, to keep your mind healthy, as well as your body. Moreover, ensuring that you are eating a healthy diet will help fuel energy for your workouts, as well as make you feel more motivated.
